Besides religious holidays and vacation days, what do office workers look forward to the most? National Holidays that make for long weekends. A three-day escape for office workers is the equivalent to kids being granted hot fudge sundaes after band concerts. Both rewards result in a similar excitement level. Three-day weekends allow cubicle dwellers to actually enjoy their time off without being in a rush to do everything, they ever even remotely wanted to do, while away from the office. The pressure to make full use of their temporary freedom is stretched over three days, giving them time to catch their breath in between activities.

By Monday afternoon, office workers are so relaxed and internally content that going back to their workstation the next day seems premature and impractical. They have so much left to do. And while away from the office, young workers may discover a cornucopia of new interests that they want to explore.
But office walls are waiting and, unfortunately, on Tuesday morning, corporate will call its workers back to their boxes.
Hopefully, your weekend can last a few more hours. And when you do return, perhaps you will have tiny pockets of sand left in between your toes, a red face from suntan lotion refusal, a hangover from late Monday afternoon drinking on the beach, a new relationship that spawned from having time to look, or a IPhone full of hilarious weekend pictures to show your cubicle friends.
Three-day weekends break up the monotony of boxed life and office workers wait, at the ready, for the next one.
