The vending machine, a worker’s personal nemesis during the workday, is a wonderful devise that plays doormat to fast, easily accessible, guaranteed-to-please tastiness. With the insertion of a few quarters and dimes, and the press of a button any employee can be the proud owner of a classily smooth Milky Way, a pouch of spunky colored M&M’s, or a sugar infested gooey cookie delight. Of course, all are low in fat and high in fiber. Wink.
Like the ocean’s low and high tides, so goes vending machine usage through out the day. There’s the morning rush, consisting of those who can’t possibly hold off until lunch. Shortly after 10am, a competition of crinkling wrappers occurs, most times won by the coworker who desperately wants to wait until midday, but experiencing extreme weakness, runs to the machine and tears open the package with ferocious enthusiasm.
